Grooming Questions

Booking, pricing, coat care and comfort

The questions we are asked most, grouped by topic. If yours is not covered, call or text (717) 344‑7840 and we will answer it directly.

Booking

How do I book an appointment?

Book online through our MoeGo booking page. You will choose a service and a time, and receive confirmation and reminders. You can also call or text (717) 344‑7840.

How far ahead should I book?

Because appointments are one-on-one, the diary fills faster than a walk-in salon. Booking a couple of weeks out is sensible, and further ahead around holidays.

Can I really get one-on-one attention?

Yes. That is the whole idea behind Chien d'amour. It is a low-volume boutique salon, so your dog receives focused, individual attention from their groomer rather than moving through a busy line of dogs.

Services and pricing

What is included in a full-service groom?

A bath, fluff up, nail trim, ear cleaning and a full haircut service, breed-appropriate or styled the way you request. Full pricing is on the services page.

How much does grooming cost?

Full grooms start at $80 and baths start at $45, both depending on your dog's size. Ear trimming is $15 and a standalone nail trim is $10. See the full price list.

Do you offer a discount for regular clients?

Yes. Book three or more grooming appointments within the same 60-day period and each appointment is 10% off.

Grooming schedule and coat care

How often should my dog be groomed?

It depends on the breed, coat type and lifestyle. Many coated breeds do best every 4 to 8 weeks, while short-coated dogs can often go longer between baths. We can recommend a routine for your dog at your first appointment.

What happens if my dog's coat is matted?

Matting adds time and cost, and heavy matting can be genuinely painful to brush out. Where a coat is badly matted, a shorter cut is usually kinder than hours of dematting. Mention your dog's coat condition when booking so we can plan enough time.

How long does an appointment take?

Chien d'amour is an express, low-volume salon, so appointments are scheduled one-on-one and your dog is not waiting in a kennel all day. Exact timing depends on the service, size and coat, and your groomer can give you an estimate at drop-off.

Your dog's comfort

My dog is nervous about grooming. Can you help?

The one-on-one, low-stress format was designed with sensitive dogs in mind: no crowded salon, no chorus of dryers and barking. Let us know about your dog's temperament when you book so the appointment can be planned around their comfort.

Do you groom puppies and senior dogs?

Yes. Pacing, handling and breaks are adjusted to fit older dogs and first-timers. Mention your dog's age and any special needs when booking.

What about a puppy's first groom?

Early appointments are kept short and positive so the experience sets a good pattern. Tell us it is a first groom when you book.
